Care guide

Looking after each pattern between visits

In plain words, with nothing to buy. Start with your most trouble-making pattern.

  • Waves

Light on products, easy on the brush.

    • Wash with a light shampoo; condition from mid-length down.

    • Scrunch while wet and let it dry untouched.

    • Use a spray bottle of water to refresh.

    • Cut so the bends fall where you want them.

  • Curls

    More water, more patience.

    • Detangle with conditioner in, in sections.

    • Rake in your styler and scrunch upward.

    • Diffuse on low, then wait until fully dry to touch.

    • Sleep on satin or in a loose pineapple.

  • Coils

    Moisture, time and wide teeth.

    • Work in small sections, from the ends up.

    • Use a leave-in, then a sealing step.

    • Stretch with twists or braids if you want length.

    • Cover your hair at night with satin.

Not sure which pattern you have? Most heads have more than one. A first visit or the Know your pattern class will sort it out.

Questions

Care questions

How often should I wash?

It depends on your scalp, your pattern and how active you are. Many people wash every week or two. Your stylist will suggest a schedule.

Can I brush my curls?

On wash day, with conditioner in, in sections. Brushing dry curls tends to break up the shape.

What should I do at night?

Cover your hair with satin, or sleep on a satin pillowcase.
